A.B. Guthrie, Jr. (1901-1991) was an American novelist and screenwriter known for his western fiction. He won a Pulitzer Prize for his novel "The Way West" and was nominated for an Academy Award for his screenplay for the film "Shane." Guthrie also authored the Sheriff Chick Charleston series.
