In "The Shut Eye" by Belinda Bauer, four-year-old Daniel Buck vanishes, leaving only his footprints in cement as a haunting reminder for his mother, Anna. As Anna obsessively maintains the footprints, she descends into despair, finding no solace from the police or her husband. Desperate, Anna turns to a purported psychic, a "shut eye," hoping to uncover the truth about her son's disappearance. However, her encounter with the psychic yields unexpected revelations. This standalone novel explores the depths of a mother's grief and the lengths she will go to find hope.
