Carole Lawrence
7 SeriesCarole Lawrence, also known as C.E. Lawrence and Carole Bugge, is an author of historical mystery novels, notably the Ian Hamilton series. She holds a B.A. with honors in English and German from Duke University. Lawrence teaches creative writing at NYU and Gotham Writers Workshop, and has also taught at the Cape Cod, San Miguel, and Woodstock Writers Conferences.
In "Edinburgh Twilight," the first novel in Carole Lawrence's Ian Hamilton series, Detective Inspector Ian Hamilton investigates a series of stranglings in Edinburgh as the new century approaches. The city is divided between the affluent New Town and the crime-ridden Old Town, where Hamilton, haunted by his parents' mysterious death, discovers a young man's body in Holyrood Park. With scant evidence except for a peculiar playing card, Hamilton collaborates with his aunt, a skilled photographer, and a librarian interested in criminal psychology to track the "Holyrood Strangler." As the killer's body count rises, so does the tension in the city, with Hamilton becoming the murderer's next target.
