Cyril Hare, the pen name of Alfred Alexander Gordon Clark (1900-1958), was an English novelist known for his mystery novels. He studied history at Oxford University and practiced law, drawing on these experiences to enrich his writing. Clark began his writing career at age 36 and produced notable works until his death from tuberculosis at 57.

In Cyril Hare's "The Magic Bottle," siblings Philip and Mary unwittingly release a Djinn from an unusual bottle. Philip, familiar with the tales of Arabian Nights, anticipates trouble. However, the Djinn proves to be benign, setting the stage for a series of surprising adventures. The story follows the siblings as they navigate the unexpected consequences of their discovery.
