David Williams (1926-2003) was a Welsh author known for his crime fiction series, including Mark Treasure and Inspector Parry. He studied at Hereford Cathedral School and St. John’s College, Oxford, but interrupted his education to serve as a Royal Navy officer during World War II. After working as a medical copywriter, a stroke led him to pursue crime writing full-time, a genre he had already begun exploring in his spare time.

In "Last Seen Breathing," David Williams introduces Inspector Merlin Parry in the quiet market town of Tawrbach. The town is rocked by the accidental death of wealthy widow Rhonwen Spencer Griffith, followed by the suspicious death of her son, Elwyn. Evidence suggests Elwyn was involved in blackmail, deepening the mystery. Inspector Parry must unravel the truth behind these deaths, as the town faces potential upheaval.
