4 Series

Desmond Bagley (1923-1983) was an English author renowned for his fast-paced thriller novels, which were noted for their detailed storytelling. Before becoming a full-time writer, Bagley worked in the aircraft industry and as a freelance journalist and film critic in South Africa. Four of his novels—Landslide, The Vivero Letter, The Freedom Trap (as The Mackintosh Man), and The Enemy—were adapted into films.

In Desmond Bagley's *High Citadel*, Tim O'Hara's plane is hijacked and crash-lands in the Andes. A group of communist soldiers, intent on assassinating a key political passenger, pursues them. Stranded in the harsh mountain environment, O'Hara and his companions must fight for survival using only primitive weapons. Their struggle is not just against the elements, but also against a determined enemy bent on leaving no survivors.
