2 Series

Eleanor Catton, a Canadian-born New Zealand author, is known for her mystery and thriller novels. Her novel "The Luminaries" won the 2013 Man Booker Prize and the Governor General's Award for Fiction. She also adapted "The Luminaries" for television and wrote the screenplay for "Emma," based on the Jane Austen novel.

Eleanor Catton's novel concludes with a perplexing and seemingly disconnected ending that left the reader feeling puzzled and dissatisfied. The abrupt and unexpected resolution feels as though it may have been influenced by external pressures, such as publisher deadlines, rather than a natural culmination of the story. This disconnect from the rest of the narrative leads to a sense of wasted time for the reader, who invested hours into the tale. While not all readers may feel the same about the ending, this particular conclusion stands out as exceptionally unsatisfying.
