Elizabeth Strout

Elizabeth Strout is an American author known for her Pulitzer Prize-winning book, Olive Kitteridge (2009). Her other notable works include the national bestseller Abide with Me and Amy and Isabelle, which won the Los Angeles Times Art Seidenbaum Award for First Fiction and the Chicago Tribune Heartland Prize. Strout's short stories have been published in magazines such as The New Yorker, and she teaches at the Master of Fine Arts program at Queens University of Charlotte.

The Burgess Boys by Elizabeth Strout follows Jim and Bob Burgess, brothers who left their Maine hometown of Shirley Falls for New York City after their father's tragic death. Jim, a successful corporate lawyer, has always belittled his brother Bob, a Legal Aid attorney. Their dynamic shifts when their sister Susan calls them back home; her son Zach is in serious trouble. Returning to Shirley Falls, the brothers confront long-buried tensions that resurface and transform their relationship forever.
