2 Series

Frances Crane (1890-1981) was an American author known for her Pat & Jean Abbott mystery series. She graduated from the University of Illinois and pursued graduate studies at the University of Chicago. Crane was an outspoken liberal who was expelled from Nazi Germany after mocking Hitler's speeches. She turned to writing detective fiction upon returning home as a divorcée in need of money.

Pat and Jean, despite their general disinterest in the expatriate community, find themselves involved in a murder investigation. Jean harbors a particular dislike for a divorcée whom Pat admires. Pat believes the accused is innocent and decides to help uncover the true culprit.
