Frank Delaney (1942-2017) was an Irish author, journalist, and broadcaster. He covered the Troubles in Ireland for RTÉ and later hosted "Bookshelf" on BBC Radio 4, interviewing thousands of authors. Delaney also wrote and presented for the BBC's "Omnibus" television program.

Charles, driven by obsession, writes the "History" of his life and country, encountering notable figures like Charles Parnell, William Butler Yeats, and George Bernard Shaw. His journey is perilous, as he faces threats from lesser-known but dangerous individuals. Parallel to Charles's narrative, a retired history teacher emerges as a second "history specialist." This forgotten commentator realizes the high stakes involved in Charles's storytelling. Together, their intertwined stories explore the power and peril of historical narrative.
