H.R.F. Keating was an English author renowned for his Inspector Ghote and Evelyn Hervey series. He received the CWA Cartier Diamond Dagger for his significant contributions to crime literature.

In H.R.F. Keating's Harriet Martens series, the first book, "The Hard Detective," introduces Detective Chief Inspector Harriet Martens as she leads the "Stop the Rot" campaign in Greater Birchester.
