James Herbert (1943-2013) was an acclaimed English horror and dark fantasy author, best known for the Rats and David Ash series. Several of his novels were adapted into films, and his work, The Secret of Crickley Hall, was adapted into a BBC One television serial. Herbert received the World Horror Convention Grand Master Award, presented by Stephen King.
