Jennifer De Leon is an American author of YA novels and an Assistant Professor of English at Framingham State University. Born in the Boston area to Guatemalan immigrant parents, she holds degrees from Connecticut College (International Relations), the University of San Francisco (MA in Teaching), and UMASS-Boston (MFA in Creative Writing). Her work has been published in over a dozen literary magazines and anthologies.

"Wise Latinas," edited by Jennifer De Leon, is a collection of essays exploring the complexities Latinas face in college. Traditionally, Latinas are expected to leave home upon marriage. Sandra Cisneros's essay "Only Daughter" highlights these tensions, recounting her father's disappointment: "After four years in college and two more in graduate school, and still no husband, my father shakes his head even now and says I wasted all that education." This collection delves into the challenges and expectations placed on Latinas pursuing higher education.
