Johan Theorin, a Swedish author of Scandinavian crime fiction, has deep ties to Öland, where his mother's family worked as sailors, fishermen, and farmers. His debut novel, "Echoes from the Dead," was named Best First Mystery Novel in 2007 by the Swedish Academy of Crime Writers. His second novel, "The Darkest Room," won the Best Swedish Crime Novel award in 2008. Theorin resides in Gothenburg, Sweden.
