Kevin Powers is an American author and poet, known for his New York Times bestselling literary fiction. A native of Virginia, he graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University and earned an MFA from the University of Texas at Austin as a Michener Fellow in Poetry. He served in the US Army from 2004 to 2005, deploying to Iraq as a machine gunner.
