Martha Hall Kelly is an American author known for her historical fiction, particularly the Caroline Ferriday series. Before her writing career, she worked as an advertising copywriter. Kelly raised three children while researching and writing her debut novel, "Lilac Girls." She currently resides in both Connecticut and New York City.

Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly follows the intersecting lives of three women during World War II. Caroline Ferriday, a New York socialite, becomes involved in the war effort after Hitler's invasion of Poland. Kasia Kuzmerick, a Polish teenager, joins the underground resistance and is eventually sent to the Ravensbrück concentration camp. Meanwhile, German doctor Herta Oberheuser takes a government position that leads her into the heart of Nazi atrocities. As their paths converge, Caroline and Kasia work to bring justice to the victims of the Holocaust, spanning continents from New York to Europe.
