Nicholas Blake is the pseudonym of C. Day Lewis (1904-1972), a British Poet Laureate who authored the Nigel Strangeways mystery series. As C. Day Lewis, he was renowned for his poetry, critical works, translations, and novels. He married actress Jill Balcon in 1951 and had four children, including actor Daniel Day Lewis.
