Ransom Riggs is an American author known for his young adult and children's novels, including the popular Miss Peregrine series. He studied English literature at Kenyon College and film at the University of Southern California, where his short films led to opportunities in writing, such as the Sherlock Holmes Handbook. Riggs resides in Southern California with his wife, fellow YA novelist Tahereh Mafi.

In "Talking Pictures: Images and Messages Rescued from the Past," Ransom Riggs presents a curated collection of vintage photographs, each accompanied by its original inscriptions. These images, gathered from various sources, are woven together to form a compelling narrative. Riggs breathes life into these frozen moments, offering readers a unique glimpse into bygone eras. The book showcases the power of photography to capture and preserve personal stories and historical insights.
