Sheldon Russell, an American author, specializes in historical mystery and western novels, including the Hook Runyon series. Before his writing career, he taught English in public schools and was a professor emeritus at the University of Central Oklahoma. His accolades include the 2006 Langum Prize for Excellence in American Historical Fiction and the 2007 Oklahoma Book Award for Fiction. He resides in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
