William Deverell

William Deverell is a Canadian author known for his legal and crime thriller novels, including the Arthur Beauchamp series. He previously worked as a journalist for the Canadian Press, Vancouver Sun, and Saskatoon Star-Phoenix, and as a lawyer handling over a thousand criminal cases. Deverell also created the television series Street Legal and is an accomplished screenwriter. He divides his time between Pender Island, British Columbia, and Quepos, Costa Rica.

In "Needles" by William Deverell, struggling lawyer Foster Cobb takes on the case of prosecuting Dr. Au, the West Coast's notorious drug trafficker. Amidst his faltering practice and failing marriage, Cobb grapples with his own relapse into heroin addiction.
