William Lashner, an American novelist and former trial lawyer, graduated from the NYU School of Law and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. He served in the Criminal Division of the United States Department of Justice. Lashner is best known for his legal suspense novels featuring the character Victor Carl, a struggling lawyer in Philadelphia.

William Lashner's "Bitter Truth," also published as "Veritas," delves into the life of a disgraced lawyer seeking redemption. Under the pseudonym Tyler Knox, Lashner wrote "Kockroach," a novel that explores the gritty underworld through the eyes of a cockroach reincarnated as a human.
