Adam Gidwitz is an American author known for his children's novels, including the Unicorn Rescue Society series. He studied English literature in college and later taught grade school in New York, where a literary agent discovered his talent during a puppet play performance. Gidwitz resides in Brooklyn, New York, with his wife and daughter.

In "A Tale Dark and Grimm," Adam Gidwitz reimagines Hansel and Gretel's journey as they venture beyond their familiar tale into eight other classic Grimm fairy tales. Guided by a witty narrator, the siblings encounter witches, warlocks, dragons, and the devil. As they navigate a perilous forest, Hansel and Gretel uncover the true stories behind these famous tales. Through their adventures, they learn to control their destinies and forge their own path to a happy ending. This book offers a fresh, irreverent take on traditional fairy tales.
