Ann Leckie is an American science fiction author best known for her Imperial Radch trilogy. She has also published numerous short stories and served as secretary of the Science Fiction Writers of America. Leckie resides in St. Louis, Missouri, with her family.

In "Ancillary Justice," the first book of Ann Leckie's Imperial Radch series, Breq, once the AI of the starship Justice of Toren, navigates a remote, icy planet. Betrayed and reduced to a single human body, she seeks vengeance against the empire that once controlled her. Her journey is driven by a quest for answers and a burning desire for retribution.
