Colin Forbes, the pen name of British novelist Raymond Sawkins (1923-2006), was renowned for his Tweed & Co. series of spy thrillers. Before dedicating himself to writing full-time, Forbes served in the British Army during World War II and worked as a sub-editor for a publishing company. He also wrote under the pseudonyms Richard Raine, Jay Bernard, and Harold English.

Colin Forbes, also known by his real name Raymond Sawkins and pen names Richard Raine and Jay Bernard, authored several series and standalone novels. The Snow series was written under his real name. The David Martini series was published as Richard Raine. The Burning Fuse was released under the pseudonym Jay Bernard. A Wreath for America was alternatively titled The Corder Index.
