David Ignatius is an American author of spy thriller/suspense novels and an associate editor and columnist for the Washington Post. Educated at Harvard College and King's College, Cambridge University, he began his career at the Washington Monthly and later spent a decade as a reporter at the Wall Street Journal. Since joining the Washington Post in 1986, he has utilized his extensive knowledge of foreign affairs and intelligence operations in his writing. His novel "Body of Lies" was adapted into a film directed by Ridley Scott, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe.

In "Body of Lies" by David Ignatius, CIA operative Roger Ferris devises a plan to dismantle the network of the terrorist known as "Suleiman." Inspired by a WWII British strategy, Ferris employs a deception involving the corpse of a fictitious CIA officer, who seemingly turned an enemy agent. When the plan unravels, Ferris finds himself in peril and turns to Jordan's head of intelligence for help, questioning his trustworthiness. The novel, rich with espionage and suspense, was adapted into a film by Ridley Scott in 2008.
