E.L. Doctorow

E.L. Doctorow (1931-2015) was an acclaimed American author, best known for his novel "Ragtime." He graduated with honors from Kenyon College and pursued graduate studies in English drama at Columbia University before serving in the U.S. Army. Doctorow's first novel, "Welcome to Hard Times," initially conceived as a parody, marked his entry into serious literary work. He passed away in New York City in July 2015 from lung cancer.

"Welcome to Hard Times," also published as "Bad Man from Bodie," is a novel by E.L. Doctorow. It is a gripping tale set in the Old West, focusing on the struggles of a small town against a menacing outlaw. The narrative explores themes of resilience and morality in the face of adversity. Additionally, "Poems for Life" is a collection that includes works by notable authors such as Allen Ginsberg, David Mamet, and Joyce Carol Oates, among others.
