Harper Lee (1926-2016) was an American novelist renowned for her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, "To Kill a Mockingbird," a seminal work of Southern Gothic fiction. Born Nelle Harper Lee in Monroeville, Alabama, she drew upon her experiences in the Deep South during the 1930s to craft her narrative. Lee's close friendship with Truman Capote and her background as the daughter of a newspaper editor and lawyer enriched her writing.

The Harper Lee Collection features "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Go Set a Watchman," both set in Maycomb, Alabama. "To Kill a Mockingbird" follows young Scout Finch as her father, Atticus, defends a Black man accused of rape in the 1930s. "Go Set a Watchman" revisits Scout, now known as Jean Louise, as she confronts her father's involvement in racial issues in the 1950s. Both novels explore themes of race, class, and justice in the Deep South, offering timeless insights into societal challenges.
