In "In the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead," the sixth novel in James Lee Burke's Dave Robicheaux series, Detective Robicheaux experiences visions of Confederate soldiers while investigating the brutal murder of a young woman in New Iberia, Louisiana. Amidst the investigation, Robicheaux arrests a movie star, Elrod Sykes, for drunk driving, who reveals a skeleton found on a 1957 film set that matches the location of a racial murder Robicheaux witnessed. Haunted by guilt, Robicheaux seeks to identify the skeleton's victim as more young women are killed. The novel was adapted into the 2009 film "In the Electric Mist," a France-United States co-production starring Tommy Lee Jones as Robicheaux and John Goodman.
