John Darnielle

John Darnielle

3 Series

John Darnielle is an American author known for his horror novels and a primary member of the band The Mountain Goats. He is also a podcaster and activist. Darnielle resides in Durham, North Carolina, with his wife, Lalitree, and their two sons.

In "Wolf in White Van," John Darnielle introduces Sean Phillips, a man isolated by a disfiguring injury since age 17. From his apartment in southern California, Sean creates Trace Italian, a text-based, role-playing game played by mail. Players worldwide navigate his intricately designed, post-apocalyptic American landscape, seeking refuge. Through this game, Sean explores the boundaries between reality and imagination, offering both dark and bright possibilities.
