Patricia Moyes (1923-2000) was a British author known for her Inspector Henry Tibbett mystery series. Before dedicating herself to writing, she worked as a technical and personal assistant to Peter Ustinov, co-wrote the screenplay for "School for Scoundrels," and served as an assistant editor for British Vogue. Her successful translation of the play "Time Remembered" marked her transition to a full-time mystery writer.

In "Down Among the Dead Men," the second book in Patricia Moyes' Inspector Tibbett series, Inspector Tibbett's vacation on a friend's yacht is interrupted by a suspicious death. While sailing along the English coast, Tibbett becomes preoccupied with the drowning of a local sailor. His investigation intensifies when the sailor's death appears linked to a robbery at a nearby manor-house. Accompanied by his wife, Emmy, Tibbett navigates the twists and turns of this intriguing case.
