Philip Reeve is an English author and illustrator renowned for his science fiction and children's books, notably the Mortal Engines series, also known as the Hungry City Chronicles. He studied illustration at CCAT in Cambridge and Brighton Polytechnic before transitioning to writing. Reeve's writing process is notably spontaneous, often leading him to abandon entire drafts in favor of unplanned creativity.

Author: Philip Reeve Rewritten synopsis: In a post-apocalyptic world, cities move across the landscape, preying on smaller towns. Tom Natsworthy, a young apprentice, uncovers a sinister plot after a near-fatal encounter with the scarred assassin, Hester Shaw. As they flee, they stumble upon a resistance movement fighting against the predatory city of London. Together, they must stop London's plan to consume everything in its path. The fate of the world hangs in the balance as Tom and Hester navigate betrayal, danger, and unexpected alliances.
