P.L. Gaus

1 Series

Paul L. Gaus is an American author known for his Amish-Country Mysteries series, set in Holmes County, Ohio. He holds a B.S. from Miami University and a Ph.D. from Duke University, and taught chemistry extensively. Gaus, inspired by Tony Hillerman, began writing in 1993 and frequently lectures on Amish culture.

In "Blood of the Prodigal" by P.L. Gaus, the first Amish-Country Mystery, an Amish boy's kidnapping prompts a bishop to seek help from three "English" outsiders: a college professor, a pastor, and a county sheriff. These three are uniquely able to navigate the insular Amish community. Their involvement becomes crucial as they work to solve the crime and bridge the cultural divide.
