He has contributed to various magazines and served as writer-in-residence for the Georgia Council for the Arts and composer-in-residence for the Academy Theatre. DePoy also held the position of Artistic Director at Theatrical Outfit during the 1990s. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in English literature, folklore, and performance art.
