In "Once We Were Brothers," the first novel in Ronald H. Balson's Liam Taggart & Catherine Lockhart series, Elliot Rosenzweig, a respected civic leader and philanthropist, is accused of being Otto Piatek, the notorious Butcher of Zamosc, a former Nazi SS officer. The accuser, Solomon, hires attorney Catherine Lockhart to bring Rosenzweig to justice, claiming that Piatek was raised by his family before betraying them during the Nazi occupation. As Lockhart delves into the case, she must determine whether Solomon has accused the right man.
