
Ross Macdonald
8 SeriesRoss Macdonald, the pen name of Kenneth Millar (1915-1983), was an American-Canadian author renowned for his crime fiction and mystery novels set in Southern California. His series featuring private investigator Lew Archer established him as one of the masters of hardboiled mysteries, alongside Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler. Two of his Lew Archer novels were adapted into films, with Paul Newman portraying the detective as "Lew Harper."
