1 SeriesAlex Gilvarry, an American author, graduated from CUNY – Hunter College’s MFA Program in Creative Writing in 2009. In 2014, he was recognized as one of the National Book Foundation’s “5 Under 35.” He currently serves as a professor of Creative Writing at Monmouth University in New Jersey.
In 1973, Alan Eastman, a past-his-prime war journalist and cultural critic, finds himself alone and in an existential crisis after his wife leaves him. Desperate to regain his former glory and win back his wife, Eastman accepts an unexpected offer from an old rival to cover the end of the Vietnam War. Hoping to write a definitive account, he travels to Vietnam. However, instead of a triumphant return to form, Eastman finds himself in Saigon, grappling with the same personal issues he thought he had left behind in New York.
