Heather O'Neill is a Canadian novelist, poet, and screenwriter born in Montreal, where she attended McGill University. She has won numerous awards, including the Canada Reads competition, the Hugh MacLennan Prize for Fiction, the Danuta Gleed Literary Award, and the Writers’ Trust Fellowship 2019. Her work has also been frequently shortlisted and longlisted for various accolades.

Heather O’Neill's novel follows twins who, since childhood, have been exploited by their father, Etienne, for public spectacle. As Etienne's influence wanes, the twins navigate their tumultuous adolescences under the scrutiny of the tabloid Allo Police. The story centers on Nouschka, who must break free from her past and her brother's dangerous choices to forge her own path. Amidst growing up and facing public judgment, the twins' journey is one of self-discovery and resilience.
