Mahajan has also worked as an editor, economic and urban planning consultant, and researcher across San Francisco, New York City, and Bangalore. He currently resides in Austin, Texas.
In Karan Mahajan's novel, "The Association of Small Bombs," two Delhi schoolboys, Tushar and Nakul Khurana, are killed by a bomb while picking up a television with their friend Mansoor Ahmed in 1996. Mansoor survives but is deeply affected, later returning to Delhi after studying in the U.S. His life intertwines with Ayub, a charismatic activist with shifting allegiances. Parallel to their story is that of Shockie, a Kashmiri bomb maker dedicated to his homeland's independence. The novel explores the ripple effects of terrorism on individuals and society.
