4 Series

William Gay (1941-2012) was an American author known for his contributions to Southern literature. Born in Hohenwald, Tennessee, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Gay began writing at age 15 and achieved his first publication in 1998.

In William Gay's standalone novel "Twilight," teenager Kenneth Tyler and his sister Corrie discover their father's casket empty at his gravesite, revealing the undertaker Fenton Breece's grotesque manipulation of the dead. Armed with incriminating photographs, Tyler becomes obsessed with bringing Breece to justice. However, he must first evade Granville Sutter, a local strongman and convicted murderer hired by Breece to destroy the evidence. Tyler's ensuing flight takes him through the eerie Harrikin backwoods, where he encounters a mix of eccentric squatters who both shield and threaten him. As Tyler navigates this dangerous landscape, his quest for justice becomes a gripping adventure.
