She has also contributed to the Star Wars and Star Trek series. Hambly holds a Master’s degree in medieval history from the University of California at Riverside and lives in Los Angeles, California.

In "The Quirinal Hill Affair," alternatively titled "Search the Seven Hills," a historical mystery unfolds in ancient Rome. "Stranger at the Wedding," also published as "Sorcerer's Ward," delves into magical intrigue at a family celebration. Hambly's Abigail Adams series, written under the pseudonym Barbara Hamilton, explores historical fiction. "Night's Edge" features Hambly's work alongside stories by Charlaine Harris and Maggie Shayne, while "Magic Time" is a collaborative effort with Marc Scott Zicree. Additionally, Hambly co-edited "Sisters of the Night" with Martin H. Greenberg.
