Frank Gardner is an English author and the BBC's full-time Security Correspondent. He has written "Blood and Sand" and the Luke Carlton series. In his role at the BBC, he reports on domestic and international security issues, with a focus on Al-Qaeda-related terrorism.

In "Blood and Sand," Frank Gardner recounts the harrowing true story of the 2004 ambush by Islamist gunmen in which he and his cameraman, Simon Cumbers, were attacked. Simon was killed during the assault, while Frank was shot six times, surviving against all odds. The attack left Frank partially paralyzed. Despite his injuries, he continued his career as a BBC correspondent, traveling the world to report on various stories.
