Margaret Sidney, the pen name of American author Harriet Lothrop (1844-1924), is best known for her children's book series, "Five Little Peppers." She began her writing career at age 34, when her first short story was published in a Boston children's magazine. Encouraged by the editor, she continued to write, contributing significantly to children's literature.

In "Five Little Peppers Midway" by Margaret Sidney, the Pepper family continues their story five years after the events of "The Five Little Peppers and How They Grew." Now residing in Mr. King's spacious mansion, their newfound happiness is threatened by his malicious cousin. This cousin's actions create tension and challenge the Peppers' contentment. The novel explores the family's resilience and their struggle to maintain harmony amidst adversity.
