Percival Everett is an American author known for his literary fiction novels and poetry. He wrote his first novel while pursuing his AM degree at Brown University. The Washington Post has described him as "one of the most adventurously experimental of modern American novelists." Additionally, he serves as a Distinguished Professor of English at the University of Southern California.

In "Watershed" by Percival Everett, Robert Hawks, a hydrologist, becomes embroiled in a conflict over Native American treaty rights north of Denver. Initially seeking a tranquil fishing getaway, Robert's peaceful interlude quickly escalates into a dangerous situation. As tensions rise, he uncovers government secrets, leading to murder. This standalone novel intertwines environmental issues with political intrigue, culminating in a gripping narrative of discovery and peril.
