Coe has been honored with a degree from the University of Birmingham.

In Jonathan Coe's "Number 11," the narrative unfolds from the early 2000s, centering on childhood friends Alison and Rachel. Their early encounter with the "Mad Bird Woman" sets the stage for a series of interconnected stories. Alison's mother competes on a reality TV show, while Rachel's university mentor grapples with her late husband's obsession over a childhood film. Concurrently, a young police officer investigates the mysterious deaths of two comedians. As Rachel takes a nanny position with a wealthy family, she uncovers a sinister secret beneath their London mansion, weaving together these disparate threads into a gripping tale.
